WDCi Team Marathon Event

The team that trains together stays together!  Our Kuala Lumpur Team decided to sweat it out when 8 members participated in the 2017 ASICS Relay Night Run. Not only did we spend a night having a blast but we got closer through this bonding experience. The initial plan was to cruise through the run and have fun but as you can guess, the teams (2 Teams consisting of 4 members) got competitive so we battled it out for an overall winner. The final times came in with the teams being only 3 minutes apart! Well Done Team! We look forward to updating you on our future events that our team takes part in.

Stay tuned for our next news update.

Wedid:BCI Data Modelling in Salesforce

Challenges

Data intelligence and leads coming from BCI are the core sales opportunity in the business of our chemical construction site service customer.

These leads are externally provisioned through CSV files and it needs to be tracked in Salesforce so that it can blend into other business data. The convergence of these data will help the customer form a powerful source of report in the forecast and finance area.

The current challenge is these data are residing out of Salesforce system.

Solution:

  1. Review through the files given by BCI and review the data that need to be in Salesforce
  2. Identified the core objects – Project, Firm, Contact, Contact Role
  3. Work through a model to connect these objects as part of Standard/Custom object and link with Opportunity to track any finance information

Wedid: Salesforce As Retail Coordination System

Challenges

A consultancy company needs to provide solution to the customer encompassing a portfolio of the retail information relating to the property, budgeting, landlord, solicitor etc. The challenges identified in the solution are:

  • each detailed information need to be linked to create a connected entity as documents need to be generated at each record level containing the summarised entities
  • all steps need to be tracked in each of the leasing opportunities to capture the offer/counter offer stages
  • elaborate documents need to be generated

Solution:

leasing

All retail entity is tracked and managed from the objects in the diagram to create a linkage.  Precise data modelling is required. When documents are generated, retrieving information for each entity will not be an issue.

Each offer stage will be tracked individually. Once a final offer is decided, a trigger is implemented to roll up the final result to the opportunity.

Salesforce: Setting Private User Access Consideration

When an organisation has multiple branches where different user channel can access Salesforce, it’s only common the sharing settings for User is set to private. This will help to prevent a user from viewing another user.

However, there is one setting that needs to be considered when making user access private – Group tasks. This feature in enabled by default in Salesforce to allow assigning tasks to groups – role and subordinates/public groups as shown below.

group-task

Disabling this feature helps mask and not expose the list of roles to the users. Simply navigate to Setup > Activities Setting > (uncheck group tasks) to turn off this feature.

Salesforce: Broadcasting Newsletter to Community Users

There are many different options available in broadcasting newsletter to community users, such as using native Salesforce feature of send email or third party apps from the Appexchange if you have more specific requirements or simply using other applications for marketing purpose.

We have recently implemented this requirement with a combined utilisation of:

  • Mail Chimp as the marketing tool
  • third party app Chimp Sync from the Appexchange to sync to Salesforce

This implementation has achieved the following requirement:

  • subscription list can be made available in Salesforce
  • community users can be added to the subscription list for broadcast in Mail Chimp
  • community users are able to receive newsletters via email and directly access it
  • past and present newsletters will be available in Salesforce
